・宇宙戦艦ヤマトとは、1974年にテレビアニメとして放送されたSF作品で、その後も映画やリメイク作品などが制作された人気シリーズです。物語は、2199年の地球が異星人ガミラス帝国の攻撃で滅亡の危機にあるところから始まります。地球を救うために、沈没した戦艦大和を改造した宇宙戦艦ヤマトが、遠く離れたイスカンダル星から放射能除去装置を受け取りに行くという壮大な冒険を描いています。

・Space Battleship Yamato is a SF anime series that was broadcasted on TV in 1974, and later produced movies and remake works. The story begins with the Earth being in danger of extinction by the attack of the alien Gamiras Empire in 2199. To save the Earth, the sunken battleship Yamato was remodeled into a spaceship and went to receive a radiation removal device from Iscandar, a distant star.

Space Battleship Yamato was innovative for its time as an anime work, with its battle scenes, human drama, and SF settings. It was also popular among not only children but also middle and high school students and young adults, and became a pioneer of the anime boom. It was expanded into various media such as movies, records, novels, manga, and gained many fans.
