・クレヨンしんちゃんとは、日本の漫画家・臼井儀人さんが描いた漫画や、それをもとにしたアニメのことだよ。主人公は、5歳の幼稚園児・野原しんのすけくん。しんのすけくんは、おてんばでおしゃべりでおもしろい子どもだけど、時々大人たちを困らせたりするんだ。でも、家族や友だちや先生たちと一緒に楽しく暮らしているよ。

しんのすけくんの幼稚園は春日部第一幼稚園というところで、年長組サンタクラスに通っているよ。しんのすけくんの友だちは、ボーちゃんや風間くんやネネちゃんや正男くんなど色々な性格の子どもたちだよ。ボーちゃんはお金持ちでおっとりしているけど、勇気がある子だよ。風間くんはリーダー気質でかっこいいけど、プライドが高い子だよ。ネネちゃんはおませでおせっかいな女の子で、ママっ子だよ。正男くんはメガネをかけていて頭が良いけど、気弱な子だよ。この友だちは「カスカベ防衛隊」というグループを作っていて、しんのすけくんもその一員なんだ。
クレヨンしんちゃんは1990年から漫画雑誌に連載されていて、1992年からテレビアニメにもなっているよ。テレビアニメでは毎週金曜日の夕方に放送されているよ。また、毎年春には映画も公開されていて、今までに29本も作られているよ。クレヨンしんちゃんは日本だけでなく、世界中でも人気があって、色々な国の言葉に翻訳されているよ。
